Common questions

Questions people ask us

The things worth knowing before you book a demo. If your question is not here, write to us — and tell us what was missing, so it ends up on this page.

Which headsets does it work with?

Meta Quest and Pico. The same application runs on both — one build, with the device-specific parts kept deliberately in step.

If your site has to work with no internet access at all, specify Pico. That is a constraint of Meta's own platform services — enrolment, device updates, the store — and not of our software, which needs no egress on either device. The detail is on the Network & security page.

Do we need an internet connection?

Not to run a session. Casting, controlling headsets, playing 360° video and recording session state all happen between devices on your own network. Blocking Minerva at the perimeter does not stop a class from running.

Every hostname and port, including the optional ones, is listed on the Network & security page — written for the person who has to approve it.

Do you provide the simulations?

There is no content catalogue — but you are not on your own. Most teams bring their own 360° recordings: Minerva organises them into a shared library, pushes them to every headset, and lets an instructor run the session live.

A no-code builder for interactive scenarios is in development. Today, interactive content is authored in external tools and lands in the same library as your video.

And if you want a simulation built for you, we do that on commission: our team designs and builds custom VR simulations with your instructors — that is how our ECMO cannulation simulator came to be. See custom simulations for how it works.

Do we have to buy headsets from you?

No. Minerva runs on headsets you already own. If you are not sure whether your existing hardware fits, ask — deployment guidance for your own hardware is part of a demo.

What does it cost?

Minerva Free is $0 per organisation, per month — control and run your sessions on your own local network, with no subscription and no account needed to start. It casts one headset with no sign-in, or two with a free account, and runs one session at a time.

Minerva Pro is $200 per organisation, per month, taxes included and with no annual commitment. It raises the fleet to ten headsets and five parallel sessions, adds casting over the internet as well as locally, and includes AI 3D creation in Minerva AI Studio.

Enterprise is tailored to your organisation — unlimited headsets and parallel sessions, simulation creation in Minerva AI Studio, and terms agreed with your team. What is in each plan.

No plan charges a per-device fee. Tell us about your fleet if you want help choosing.

Is there a per-device fee?

No, on every plan. A plan sets how many headsets it covers — it never adds a charge for each one you connect.

What are the contract terms?

Flexible, and deliberately not fixed yet. Minerva is in active development, so contract terms are settled at official release rather than written now and revised later. If you are evaluating Minerva today, that flexibility works in your favour — talk to us about what your organisation needs.

How many headsets can it manage?

On Free, one headset with no sign-in and two with a free account; ten on Pro, and as many as you need on Enterprise. There is still no per-device fee at any tier — the plan sets the fleet size, not a licence you count.

How do people sign in?

With Google, or your email address — Microsoft sends a one-time code to it each time. The sign-in page itself is Microsoft's — Entra External ID hosts it — so no password ever reaches us, whichever route your staff take. Sign-in opens in the browser rather than inside the application, which is why it is the one thing that needs a route out.

Once someone is signed in, their session keeps working offline, indefinitely.

Where does our data go?

Your video and your session activity stay on your own equipment unless you explicitly upload them. The cast picture never leaves your network at all.

The two pages that answer this properly are Network & security — what the software may connect to, read from the shipping configuration rather than from marketing — and Privacy, for what this website itself collects.

Is Minerva a medical device?

No. Minerva XR is a training and simulation platform. It is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease, and it is not intended for use in clinical decision-making.

What languages is it available in?

English, today — both the Hub and this site. If your organisation needs another language, tell us: it is a decision we would rather make from what our customers actually need than from a guess.

How long does it take to set up?

Minutes for a first session. You sign in, the Hub finds the headsets already on your WiFi, and you cast and go live — there is no server to stand up and no per-device enrolment step on our side.

Do you help us get set up?

Minerva is built to set itself up: you sign in, the Hub finds the headsets already on your WiFi, and you cast. There is no 1-on-1 guided onboarding at this stage — and for most sites there is nothing to onboard, because there is no server to stand up and no per-device enrolment on our side.

If you do get stuck, email us — see the reply times below.

Can we try it before committing?

Yes. Minerva Free costs nothing and is the real local product, not a trial that expires — fleet control, casting and device control on your own network: one headset with no sign-in, two with a free account. Most sites start there.

Who do we contact for help?

Write to contact@minervaxr.com. It reaches the people who build Minerva, not a ticket queue.

How quickly do you reply?

Email support is answered on a best-effort basis, usually within 5–7 business days.

We are supporting a growing number of live customer sites at the moment, so a reply may take longer than that. If something is blocking a session, say so in the subject line so we can see it quickly.
