Common questions

Questions people ask us

The things worth knowing before you book a demo. If your question is not here, write to us — and tell us what was missing, so it ends up on this page.

Which headsets does it work with?

Meta Quest and Pico. The same application runs on both — one build, with the device-specific parts kept deliberately in step.

If your site has to work with no internet access at all, specify Pico. That is a constraint of Meta's own platform services — enrolment, device updates, the store — and not of our software, which needs no egress on either device. The detail is on the Network & security page.

Do we need an internet connection?

Not to run a session. Casting, controlling headsets, playing 360° video and recording session state all happen between devices on your own network. Blocking Minerva at the perimeter does not stop a class from running.

Every hostname and port, including the optional ones, is listed on the Network & security page — written for the person who has to approve it.

Do you provide the simulations?

No — you bring your own 360° recordings. Minerva is the platform around them: it organises your recordings into a shared library, pushes them to every headset, and lets an instructor run the session live.

A no-code builder for interactive scenarios is in development. Today, interactive content is authored in external tools and lands in the same library as your video.

Do we have to buy headsets from you?

No. Minerva runs on headsets you already own. If you are not sure whether your existing hardware fits, ask — deployment guidance for your own hardware is part of a demo.

What does it cost?

Minerva Core is $0 per organisation, per month — full fleet control on your local network, with no per-device fee and no cloud account required.

Minerva Pro adds remote web access and the instructor session tools. It is not priced yet — the pricing model is being settled closer to release. If you want a say in how it lands, tell us about your fleet.

Is there a per-device fee?

No. Adding a headset to Minerva Core costs nothing.

What are the contract terms?

Flexible, and deliberately not fixed yet. Minerva is in active development, so contract terms are settled at official release rather than written now and revised later. If you are evaluating Minerva today, that flexibility works in your favour — talk to us about what your organisation needs.

How many headsets can it manage?

Unlimited, on your local network. There is no licensed device count to track.

How do people sign in?

With Google, or an email address and password. The sign-in page itself is Microsoft's — Entra External ID hosts it — so no password ever reaches us, whichever route your staff take. Sign-in opens in the browser rather than inside the application, which is why it is the one thing that needs a route out.

Once someone is signed in, their session keeps working offline, indefinitely.

Where does our data go?

Your video and your session activity stay on your own equipment unless you explicitly upload them. The cast picture never leaves your network at all.

The two pages that answer this properly are Network & security — what the software may connect to, read from the shipping configuration rather than from marketing — and Privacy, for what this website itself collects.

Is Minerva a medical device?

No. Minerva XR is a training and simulation platform. It is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease, and it is not intended for use in clinical decision-making.

What languages is it available in?

English, today — both the Hub and this site. If your organisation needs another language, tell us: it is a decision we would rather make from what our customers actually need than from a guess.

How long does it take to set up?

Minutes for a first session. You sign in, the Hub finds the headsets already on your WiFi, and you cast and go live — there is no server to stand up and no per-device enrolment step on our side.

Do you help us get set up?

Minerva is built to set itself up: you sign in, the Hub finds the headsets already on your WiFi, and you cast. There is no 1-on-1 guided onboarding at this stage — and for most sites there is nothing to onboard, because there is no server to stand up and no per-device enrolment on our side.

If you do get stuck, email us — see the reply times below.

Can we try it before committing?

Yes. Minerva Core is free and is the whole local product — fleet control, casting and device control on your own network. Most sites start there.

Who do we contact for help?

Write to contact@minervaxr.com. It reaches the people who build Minerva, not a ticket queue.

How quickly do you reply?

Email support is answered on a best-effort basis, usually within 5–7 business days.

We are supporting a growing number of live customer sites at the moment, so a reply may take longer than that. If something is blocking a session, say so in the subject line so we can see it quickly.
